The lake was easily the highlight of our trip to Arizona.
I totally get it now. I get lake culture. And I want everything to do with it.

Until this year, I hadn't been to a lake since I were seven or so. That trip was to Lake Powell, and I spent half of the time inside the boat watching Sabrina because I was too sea sick to do much else. I faintly remember a zip-line and slide, but other than that... I guess I just missed the boat (ha!) as the youngest. The "original" family shared a boat, jet skis, etcetera etcetera. My cousins are still avid lake goers, as are the families of my brother in law and sister in law -- so while the opportunities were there, for whatever reason I never accepted them. When Coby's friends had their Lake Powell trip earlier this summer I was nervvvouuss. I don't know the first thing about water sports! What if that motion sickness came back! But I left those couple days having had the best time of my life. One morning some of the guys took me out and taught me how to wake surf (anxiety intact/clumsiness ready to go). We paddle boarded, swam the day away, went cliff jumping, and just lived the life! Ahhhh.

All of this said, when my brother in law Steve suggested we take his boat out I was all over it. We watched the first session of conference then headed off to Canyon Lake. It was beautiful. The water was cold but the sun was hot. Despite the bigger board I was able to get up for a little bit. And PEOPLE I even wakeboarded on my first try! I got up and then proceeded to accidentally jump over the wake! Don't worry, I was screaming my entire air time. Coby, of course, can pick up right where he left off at anything and everything (aka surfing up a storm). Steve is a total lake stud and Breck shreddsss (am I lake savvy yet?). And cute little Mckenley! Cute little Mckenley was our boat babe. I took way too many pictures of her so I'm not sure how only one made it on this post.

And guess what was happening in Provo while we were gone? Snow. Yikes. I felt bad, the entire time we were in Arizona I was complaining at how dead the summer had left it. No green grass, no orange blossoms, not even the brighter of Arizona's blue skies. But the second we started driving away I took it all back. I love the canyons! The desert! The huge sky! And the sunsets! More importantly the Mexican food, but ya know.

Above all else (yes, even the tacos) the best part was sharing Arizona with Coby. More fun for me than him I'm sure. I made him sit in my room as I showed him far too many baby pictures of myself, even some awkward home videos. He had to watch the beloved BYU football game with my dad (what if they disagree! what if he doesn't know enough! what if he knows too much!). And he had to walk down my scary driveway in the dark, with my brother in law, with a probable murderer on the premises, coyotes too, in order to talk to the cops responsible for continually spotlighting my home.

Yep, I miss it already. Thanksgiving can't come soon enough.

Some Bunny Loves You

April 09, 2012
The surprise road trip to AZ was a success!  One speeding ticket later and I was home to my wonderful parents and a ginormous warm and comfy bed.  I swear that bed has all sorts of magical healing powers I never knew.  And what did I wake up to?  Easter Sunday!  It was so so so great to be with {some of} my family on this special day.  After an amazing Easter sacrament meeting we came back to cook dinner and wait for my sisters mini-family to join us.  The rest of the day was filled with bunny book readin', whole foods eatin', bubble blowin', grass layin', and a whole lotta baby McKenley lovin'.

All Of The Lights All Of The Lights

December 19, 2011
This Sunday was an extra special day.  It was so fun to be in my home ward, and by fun I mean familiar and comfortable and easy and awesome.  I made dinner for the family: Spinach Enchiladas, Orange Winter Salad, and Cheesecake.  Shake and bake, booyah grandma!  And I went to the Mesa temple lights with my brother lover James, my best friend Erin, my baby boo Makayla, and my favorite tall man Scott!  And that's about all the preparatory description you get.  PICTURE TIME.
Now if those don't get you in the spirit of christmas I don't know what will!

White Tiger

Well hello there!  It's been a while hasn't it?  Things have been pretty busy around hurr...

Finals came.  And finals went.  Holla-freaking-lujah.  The four proceeding days of finals week were probably the most efficient four days of my life.  In that time I studied my brains out, packed up all of my stuff for the big move in with Lindsay for the winter, and studied my brains out some more.  I even fit in a final goodbye gathering with my Tingey girls at the Creamery on Ninth {how appropriate, ahhh the memories}.  Not to mention the other final goodbyes after the final library study session for finals with the Tingey girls...  By no means did I want to leave them, but I did want to leave the stress of school and that I did!  I chose to finish my finals in the first three days of the week.  Best.  Decision.  Ever.  While I didn't do as good as I thought and hoped and felt I would, I must say that this is the best round of finals I've ever had.  However, measured by the information gained, retained, and appreciated rather than percentage scored {just ask me about any piece of artwork or architecture you can think of and I will be able to write you a separate essay for each and every one, just ask me}.  After my drawing final Wednesday night my parents {who have been in Utah for an extended time due to my brothers knee injuries} came and whisked me away to the airport.  The plane was boarded, the pilot episode of The Office was watched, and in no time I was on Arizonan soil!

Once we finished the Christmas decorations, and when I say we I mean my mom as I waltzed around "giving the tree some depth" whatever that means...  Anyway after that my family got together to celebrate my niece Brielle's first birthday!  I seriously can't believe it.  Just last year she was a newborn baby.  Well obviously, but you know what I mean.  After playing with her new presents we headed to Tia Rosas {yessssss} for a celebratory dinner.
 {kissin' cousins!}

Saturday morning was Daddy Daughter time.  We watched the BYU basketball game while I twitter stalked Matt Carlino and told Papi how he sat on my couch, gave me googly eyes {I swear he really did, didn't he Erin?  DIDN'T HE?!} and how he will be the father of my children someday.
{decked out in my thuggin' volleyball sweats #gotoros}
Then papi & I set up the Christmas lights...
And that is only the beginning of my time since being home...
